This 1961 Dodge Dart Seneca started as a father/son project. They wanted to clone the Ramchargers‘ second race car, one of the early street rods.
As the family experienced health setbacks, the vehicle sat for some time. Unfortunately and sadly, Father succumbed to his illness and Son had to continue on. The project was started up again last year and this is what happened.
If you’re not familiar with 1960’s drag racing, “the most important race in the history of Chrysler” was in Indianapolis in 1961 between Ramcharger and Don Nicholson, Ramcharger crossing the finish line first.
We built the Chrysler engine with an original crossram intake manifold, installed duplicated experimental headers and original 3-speed transmission. Some added features the customer wanted were to custom build and raise the frontend. We cut the front grill to house a stainless steel Moon fuel tank and ran the necessary fuel lines, and are completing many other things to get it road worthy. Yes, it will be street legal.
This car was the feature in our booth at the Cleveland IX Piston Powered Autorama this year and was a big hit. Everyone loved seeing it come to life.
