Seme’s Engine Building
Engine building is the cornerstone of Seme & Son Automotive. All of our engines are built to very specific specifications and tolerances. Pistons are measured and each cylinder is bored and honed to match that individual piston. Blocks are line bored and crankshafts are custom ground to ensure our oil clearances are exact and uniform.
Connecting rods are inspected for cracks and bends, then reconditioned to mate perfectly with the crankshaft. Cylinder heads are completely gone through and re-machined to match the engine package they are going to be used on. All oil pumps, whether they are being reconditioned or brand new, are disassembled and inspected to be certain they will perform at the highest level.
Pistons and wrist pins are weighed and machined to match each other exactly. Once connecting rods have passed inspection and have been reconditioned, each end is weighed individually and machined to match the rest of the set.
Depending on the application, we also check and adjust the balance of flywheels, clutch assemblies, harmonic balancers and pulleys.
